MISSION

Tortolita Alliance advocates for the continued conservancy of the Tortolita Preserve (TP) and associated lands, ensuring protection of open space, wildlife habitat, watershed, and compatible recreational use.

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Protected the TP from potential development

  • Met with Marana and the Arizona State Land Dept. to ensure the TP (2,400 acres) remains open space and facilitate Marana’s purchase goal 

  • Collaborate with Marana Parks and Recreation

    • Trailhead Improvements

    • Western Fence Installation

    • Trail Counter

    • Future Trail Expansion and Connections

  • Collaborate with Coalition for Sonoran Desert Protection and other environmental groups, e.g., BioBlitz 2023

  • Published more than 400 blogs providing the community with information on trails, animals, plants, development, water supply, and more

  • Monitor federal, state, and local regulations and actions impacting our region
