Five (5) members of the Tortolita Alliance (TA) attended a workshop on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 regarding the Town of Marana Parks & Recreation Master Plan 2020-2030 (Master Plan). The Master Plan is one of the tasks highlighted in the Make Marana 2040 General Plan approved by the voters this week. This workshop was geared specifically to the Tortolita Preserve and the Tortolita Mountain Park.
Jim Conroy (Parks & Recreation Director) and Don McGann (McGann and Associates-Consultant) provided an excellent presentation of the Master Plan process and the proposed programs for the Tortolita Preserve and Tortolita Mountain Park. Click here to see the PowerPoint Slides. Please note the presentation is preliminary for discussion purposes and layouts are conceptual.
The Tortolita Preserve and Tortolita Mountain Park Action Plans (shown below) are in alignment with TA's goals for these beautiful outdoor preserve/parks. We were especially pleased to see the proposed fencing of the western side of the Tortolita Preserve to prevent illegal Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) access and cattle access (see lead slide/map).
Please let us know (use the Website Page Header Contact Us Button) if you have any thoughts and/or suggestions about the Master Plan and in particular the Action Plans for the Tortolita Preserve and Tortolita Mountain Park.
