Pedestrian Trail Crosswalk West of Roundabout

Arizona Revised Statutues 28-792 (Right-of-Way at Crosswalk) requires motor vehicles to give pedestrians the right of way if they are approaching or within a crosswalk. The Arizona Driver's Manual states in the section under Pedestrians, " You must yield the right-of-way to pedestrians crossing the street in any marked or unmarked crosswalk."

Thanks to the Town of Marana Public Works Department for installing new crosswalk signage at the Dove Mountain Pedestrian Trail crosswalks. This is a great safety improvement.

The signage includes an alert sign indicating that a crosswalk is ahead. See photo (right). It includes the pedestrian sign and the reduced speed limit (30 mph) compared to the normal posted speed limit of 35 mph or 40 mph depending where you are along Dove Mountain Blvd.

The crosswalks are now marked with a pedestrian sign and arrow.

The roundabout speed limit is clearly marked at 15 mph which impacts the crosswalks at the roundabout.

All seems to be working nicely as this morning we were in the crosswalk at the west side of the roundabout and the approaching vehicle slowed down and stopped. I gave the driver a nice thank you thumbs up and he responded with the same. Everybody's happy!
