Pima County Pygmy Owl Monitoring
Pima County Newsletter Vol. 6 No. 3 (2/12/21) provides a nice description and update of the County's pygmy owl monitoring program. The newsletter also includes a video of their efforts and pygmy owl sighting near Three Points, AZ south of Tucson. The photo above is taken from that video.
University of Arizona-Science Lecture Series-2021-Water
The University of Arizona College of Science is offering five free on-line lectures on the science of water during the month of April. The lectures will occur each Thursday evening at 6PM. Topics include the Colorado River, Climate Change and more.
University of Arizona Water Resource Research Center
The University of Arizona Water Resource Research Center is also a good source for water information and they conduct periodic on-line brown-bag seminars that you can join by just signing up on their website.
Ridgeline Trail-Dove Fire Damage
TA hikers and bikers have provided the following collage of photos showing the damage from the Dove Fire last summer along the Ridgeline Trail. With little rain, there is not much regrowth happening. Thanks to Jackie Craig and David Howe for these photos.
Invasive Grass Species Update
Stan Ross and other volunteers have sprayed fountain grass in the canyon above the Ritz Carlton Hotel and also sprayed buffelgrass in an adjacent canyon. Thanks to Stan and all the volunteers for performing this important and very difficult work.
Santa Cruz River Clean Up
Don't forget the Santa Cruz River Clean Up sponsored by Tucson Clean and Beautiful and TA on Sunday, March 7.
TA will be conducting its Spring 2021 Fundraiser soon. Keep an eye out in the next few days for an announcement!
