Great Horned Owl keeps watch over the Tortolita Preserve!

Tortolita Preserve-Trail Counter Update

The Marana Parks & Recreation Department indicates that the trail counter pricing has been received and a purchase order should be issued by the end of the year. TA's $500 contribution towards the trail counter will be paying great dividends soon with hiker and biker counts in the Tortolita Preserve (TP) and other Marana trails.

Please note the newly adopted Tucson Water rates for customers outside Tucson City Limits do not currently impact Tucson Water customers in Marana but we must be vigilant to ensure this does not change.

TA provided public comment on 6/25/21 opposing this water rate increase. See TA Tidbits #22.

TA has a meeting with Pima County officials in early January to review the Tucson Water rate situation and other water matters.

Early Morning Aircraft Noise

On 12/15/21, TA received a response from the FAA (Phoenix) to our complaint regarding early morning aircraft noise in the Dove Mountain area. The aircraft in question were not civilian but military. We know from prior conversations with Marana officials that these flights were for night military parachute training. The FAA indicated there is nothing they can do and pushed it off to contact the military. Click on the button below to see/download the FAA Complaint & Response.

This will be the last TA publication for 2021. It's been a busy year and 2022 will be just as busy and exciting.

Have a Safe & Happy Holiday!
