A BioBlitz is an event to inventory as many species as possible in a specific area during a specific time frame.
Using the smartphone app iNaturalist, community members can collect high quality data by snapping pictures of wildlife and plants and having those observations verified by others.
A BioBlitz is also an opportuinty for participants to learn about plants and wildlife, gain data collection skills, and build a stronger connection to the environment.
When: Saturday, November 19, 2022, 7:00 AM to 12 noon. See Blitz hikes/times in table below.
Where: Tortolita Preserve-Moore Road Trailhead
Directions: From Tangerine Road, take Dove Mountain Blvd north to Moore Road, left at traffic light and follow Moore Road, go past the round-about and STEM School and parking will be available near Tortolita Preserve Entrance gate
Suggestions: Hiking/work boots, long pants, long-sleeved shirts, sun hats, sunglasses. You may need a light jacket.
Bring: 2 liters of water, snack and cell phone with iNaturalist App installed (see tutorial information below)
Supplied: huge variety of plants and wildlife!
