As previously reported in TP North Trailhead Improvements (5/30/25), TRICO and Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department (PCRWRD) constructed Improvements at the Tortolita Preserve (TP) North Trailhead (Brittlebush Drive) in May 2025 that included a new utility easement access gate, barbed wire fence repair, and filling and regrading erosion gullies.
The Improvements held up well during this year's monsoon events, but there was some displacement of rip rap, especially around the trunk sewer manhole. See comparative photos below.

TA alerted PCRWRD of the rip rap displacement, and they responded immediately. PCRWRD engaged its subcontractor (Ellison-Mills Contracting) to install grouted rip rap around the trunk sewer manhole, large rip rap in the drainage swales, and a general clean-up of the area. The North Trailhead is looking great and better protected from stormwater runoff. Most importantly, the trunk sewer and manhole that serve most of Dove Mountain are better protected from stormwater damage. Thanks again to PCRWRD staff for their gracious and expeditious Phase 2 Improvements at the North Trailhead. Ellison-Mills Contracting crews did an excellent job. See progress photos below.
