Tortolita Preserve-New Moore Road Trailhead (10/27/23)
On 2/19/20, the Tortolita Alliance (TA) met with Marana Parks & Recreation (MPR) to discuss collaborative opportunities regarding the Tortolita Preserve (TP). The agenda included about 20 items including a new trailhead at Moore Road and Wild Burro Road.
On 8/5/20, TA was invited by MPR to meet and review the preliminary draft of the Marana Parks & Recreation Master Plan-2020-2030 (MPR Master Plan). TA was pleased to see that a new TP-Moore Road Trailhead was included in the proposed MPR Master Plan. The trailhead project was ultimately included in the final MPR Master Plan and the Town of Marana Capital Improvement Budget.
The TP-Moore Rd Trailhead was designed by EPS Group and built by Henry & Company Construction. The construction is now complete and the trailhead is open for use. Just drive in over the cattle guard and park. No more opening/closing the cattle gate! There is also parking for horse trailers. See photo collage below.
