Water Woes XVII-Disaster Looming

The Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) issued a press release in response to yesterday's Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources testimony of Camille Touton (Commissioner of the US Bureau of Reclamation). Download press release and testimony below.

The press release references Touton's comments that there is a need to conserve an additional 2-4 million acre-feet of water on top of all the other three Colorado River shortage and conservation programs before 2023! ADWR also expressed support for the USBR's commitment to take action if the Basin States do not.

This is very significant and may result in accelerated CAP cuts in Arizona this year.

This confirms once again that the Colorado River water supply is over-allocated and not 100% reliable!
