Wildflowers of the Tortolitas

The beauty of the Tortolita Preserve and Tortolita Mountains is enhanced each spring and early summer with the bloom of many different and multi-colored wildflowers.

Wildflowers of the Tortolitas has been developed by the Tortolita Alliance to catalogue these magnificent wildflowers for the use and enjoyment of its members and the public. Click on the link below to download your free copy.

The wildflowers are categorized by color.  Grasses and fruits are also included.  The common name, photo, taxa and location are provided. Taxa is hyperlinked to the iNaturalist website for each plant, making it easy to find additional information.

The wildflowers, grasses and fruits have been identified using multiple sources, but misidentification is possible as it is sometimes difficult to discern plants with similar features. Please let us know if we missed any.

The photographs were taken by Mark L. Johnson unless otherwise noted.  All photos are available for free use in the public domain.

Others are welcome to add to this catalogue by sending a high-definition photo, identification and location to  We will update the catalogue periodically.

Download Wildflowers of the Tortolitas to your smart phone for reference on your next wildflower hike.
